About Us
We – Sue Congram, Rosie Mayes and Mary Musselbrook – founded Engendering Balance in 2012 to develop the concept of balanced leadership. Now, as the EB Centre for Engendering Balance in Leadership, our pioneering work with the Qualities of Practice Cards® is recognised globally for excellence in meeting leadership challenges of today.
We have combined our ideas and concepts with decades of consulting experience to create The REAL Leadership Programme online, introducing leadership as a living practice to even more leaders, with discovery and reflection at the heart of our approach.
Our philosophy is that awareness leads to change – change that is choiceful and self-directed. Through The REAL Leadership Programme and Qualities of Practice® techniques, leaders are energised to make choices, experiment with real-life challenges, reflect on the balance of their approach, and ultimately gain more respect and success as a leader.

“Working with EB Centre was fascinating – they had deep experience with these conversations, and the way they unfolded how to use the cards was beguiling.”

“People need to spend time working together and understanding each other. Our business is built around people, so we were originally far more relational than you might traditionally see in a business – almost too people-centred. Business results didn’t matter quite as much to us as people results. The EB ideas helped us find a better balance.”
